About the role:

As Area Sales Manager Australia, you will be responsible for the achievement of agreed annual sales within the area or State's operating cost budget. Developing the area or State as a profit centre with increasing responsibility for profit-generation as well as sales.

Tertiary qualifications in a food or technical discipline e.g. butchering, meat inspection, chemistry or food technology, or an undergraduate degree in a business-oriented discipline is essential to be successful in this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure State sales achieve agreed annual budgets within budgeted cost limits.
  • Control the area or State inventory to augment direct supplies, including A&P material
  • Develop the most effective distributor network for the area or State. Personally service key accounts within the area or State
  • Compile monthly reports for the Sales Director Australia & New Zealand and ad hoc reports when requested
  • Recommend to the Sales Director Australia & New Zealand, way and means of increasing market penetration with Company products
  • Liaise with the Technical Department, via the Sales Director Australia & New Zealand on customer problems or developments
  • Develop annual promotional and sales activities for the State. Prepare sales forecasts by product and customer to achieve such sales and participate in marketing planning towards agreed objectives
  • Administer advertising, sales promotion and in-store displays as agreed
  • Responsible for debt collection in conjunction with the Finance Department and timely advise of customers in financial difficulties
  • Participate in recruitment, training (and termination) of all sales staff in the area or State
  • Supervise new employees’ induction to the company health and safety policies and procedures and administer his/her area staff in accordance with its provisions
  • Advocate the principles of the company Quality System in department activities
  • Attend scheduled sales meeting, develop and continue team approach momentum

  • Administer the area or state sales operating budget
  • Operate personal expense account in accordance with company procedure
  • As per approved authority limits at any point in time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present key issues and recommended actions
  • Ability to multitask and provide effective solutions
  • Exemplary interpersonal and refined relationship building skills
  • Highly organised, detail oriented with prioritisation skills

Job Description Delegation

  • In the absence of the incumbent, day to day duties will be delegated to support staff and upwards to the Sales Manager ANZ, or Sales Director Australia & New Zealand as appropriate

Knowledge

  • Robust knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning and logistics management is desirable and beneficial for this role
  • Familiar with CRM systems and practices is desirable

Experience

  • Experience in selling and sales management, ideally in industrial markets
  • Ideally some exposure to the meat industry of processed foods industry
  • Communication skills especially verbal and group presentation skills
  • Training and negotiation skills with experience in distributor arrangements

This is a remote role covering Queensland and Southern Australia with frequent travel expected around your customer sites.
