About the role

In this role, you will provide technical support and oversee relationships with a significant snacks manufacturing customer based in Georgia. You will be a vital member of the Americas Commercial team, reporting into the Area Sales Manager where you will collaborate and support internal technical and operational teams at Devro's South Carolina facility to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.

Our long-term vision for this role is to also extend technical expertise to more North American sausage producing customers on the East coast, aiding in optimising production processes, assisting in new product development and addressing quality issues promptly.
If you have previous technical sausage production experience, are highly detail focused with an interest in developing and building relationships, this could be the role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Providing detailed and timely field reports when conducting qualifications or responding to quality issues
  • Being a strong communicator with customers, Devro R&D, Quality, and Operations teams
  • Enable Devro’s casing products to move effectively through the customers’ end-to-end manufacturing processes: recipe formulation, filling and stuffing, cooking, smoking, packing, and storing
  • Build and maintain up-to-date technical skills and industry networks to provide this technical value
  • Identify and develop new efficiencies and optimizations at existing customers to add value beyond Devro’s casing products
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities at existing customers and distributors while providing technical expertise during prospecting with sales colleagues to grow the business
  • Proactively provide technical details on customers’ processing capabilities to R&D colleagues and contribute ideas on how to improve Devro’s casing
  • Build strong relationships with the strategic customer R&D leads, operators, managers, and maintenance supervisors to provide a best-in-class customer experience to defend and core business
  • Be a technical advocate for the customer with the Devro organization, operating in line with strategic priorities set in the three-year sales plan, e.g., a focus on partnership and developmental accounts

About you

  • Prior technical experience in sausage production, and preferably with a familiarity of meat casing types
  • Previous experience in a similar role and having to travel regularly is essential
  • Proficient in assisting and supporting customers with processes, products, equipment, casings, etc
  • Extensive customer service and in particular, complaint handling experience
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Must be adaptable to changing conditions/environment and can remain focused to achieve deadlines and complete
  • Flexible and able to travel when required which will be frequently in this role
  • Able to manage own workload and can work well on own and as part of a wider team
  • Excellent communication skills and confident in drafting comprehensive technical reports within a timely manner
  • Knowledge and familiarity of all meat casing types with an understanding of meat processing equipment, product formulations, and understanding of stuffing and linking equipment
  • Knowledge of hanging apparatus, cook/smoke house usage and operation of collating, loading, and packaging equipment
  • An understanding of using measuring devices to determine casing sizes, target weights, lengths, diameters etc
  • Can confidently request samples suitable for customer requirements
