About the role

Reporting to the Technical Manager for the Americas you will be responsible in achieving sales objectives as defined in the three year plan by providing technical expertise to our North American customers. Assist ing customers in optimizing their production process including, but not limited to casing and providing a timely response and resolution to all quality issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Enable Devro’s casing products to move effectively through the customers’ end-to-end manufacturing processes: recipe formulation, filling and stuffing, cooking and smoking, packing and storing.
  • Build and maintain up-to-date technical skills and industry networks in order to provide this technical value.
  • Identify and develop new efficiencies and optimizations at existing customers to add value beyond Devro’s casing products.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities at existing customers and distributors while providing technical expertise during prospecting with sales colleagues to ultimately grow the business.
  • Proactively provide technical details on customers’ processing capabilities to R&D colleagues and contribute ideas on how to improve Devro’s casing.
  • Build strong relationships with the strategic customer R&D leads, operators, managers, and maintenance supervisors to provide a best-in-class customer experience to defend and core business. 
  • Act as the technical advocate for the customer with the Devro organization, operating in line with strategic priorities set in the three year sales plan, e.g. a focus on partnership and developmental accounts.

Experience:

  • Technical understanding of sausage production

Skills:

  • Critical thinking and analysis, particularly of holistic interaction among knowledge listed below.
  • Calm temperament under stressful conditions
    • Casing failure
    • Machine Issues
    • Travel delays or cancelations

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity of all meat casing types
  • Understanding of meat processing equipment
  • Understanding of product formulations
  • Understanding of stuffing and linking equipment
  • Understanding of hanging apparatus, cook/smoke house usage
  • Understand operation of collating, loading, and packaging equipment
  • Able to use measuring devices to determine casing sizes, target weights, lengths, diameters, etc.
  • Able to assist and support customer with processes, products, equipment, casings, etc.
  • Able to read and write comprehensive technical reports in a timely manner
  • Able to request samples suitable for customer’s requirements
  • Able to handle complaints
