About the role:
We now have an opportunity for a Food Safety Technologist to join our Quality team. The purpose of this role is to monitor, audit, develop and implement improvement within the company food safety and quality systems with a view to overall enhancement of the systems and procedures.
You will be required to have an extraordinary focus on small detail, a sound knowledge of applicable standards and process management methodology to guide the development and documentation of processes and procedures is vital to the organisation. Future development is to ensure progression through the ISO9001:2008, the BRC Global for Food Safety and evolving standards such as FSSC22000 is essential for the organisation to remain accredited and the job holder plays a key role in this area.
A sound knowledge of the Customer Approval and Specification process is essential, and experience of Retailer standards and requirements is a distinct advantage to allow the company to develop this business critical interface remains compliance and aligned with these requirements.
You will develop and control the Information Sources that are supplied to the Customer. You will be required to Interface with appropriate Certification bodies (BSI and BM Trada), Environmental Health Office and Customer Auditors to ensure that all external audits are planned and conducted in a manner that results in Devro (Scotland) Limited retaining all external Certifications and approvals. You will develop and maintain the internal audit programme, including scheduling of appropriate process and systems audits to ensure that the company food safety, quality management systems are being complied with.
You will be required to develop and control the Supplier Quality Assurance programme and deliver the company’s Elementary Food Hygiene (Joint Award) training programme and support in the development such programme to meet the changing needs of company and the Law. Additionally, you will Identify improvements to develop and then manage the Devro (Scotland) Limited Food Safety Management System and HACCP plans across the organisation ensuring compliance with the law and relevant standards. Identify best practice solutions and continue to develop the food safety , quality and environmental management system to ensure they it remains progressive and compliant.
The ideal candidate will be Degree qualified in a food, science or quality based subject, be advanced HACCP certified and have approved lead Auditor status (ISO9001, ISO22000, ISO14001). Will have a minimum of 3 years experience in quality systems and food safety environments and preferably a minimum of 2 years in an auditing environment.
