About the role:

The role is offered on a fixed term basis for a duration of 12 months.

  • Deliver practical and high-quality legal advice on all aspects of the business (with particular focus on Devro) including: Commercial contracts; Company law; Competition law; Data protection; Dispute resolution; Employment law; Intellectual property; Regulatory/compliance.
  • Negotiating, drafting and reviewing a wide variety of agreements.
  • Oversee routine Devro subsidiary company filings and provide corresponding company secretary services.
  • Provide legal training to colleagues on and develop / maintain their awareness of relevant topics.
  • Manage external counsel and other legal resources to ensure they deliver sound and cost-effective services to the business.
  • Continue to contribute to the development of processes to automate the delivery of routine legal advice and tasks across the SARIA Food & Pharma Legal Function.

About you:

  • UK-qualified solicitor with minimum 5 years’ PQE. A candidate with ‘in-house’ experience in an international manufacturing business would be preferred but such experience is not essential.
  • Sound general legal skills including contract drafting.
  • A commercially minded approach to legal risk.
  • Good communication, influencing and negotiating skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Accessibility with a commitment to provide a high level of service, responsiveness and the ability to prioritise and deliver at pace.
  • An appetite to develop legal expertise in unfamiliar jurisdictions and legal fields and the ability to work independently (with limited input from other internal legal resources).
  • Degree qualified in a relevant field, ideally with some in-house post qualification experience, gained in commerce and industry. A broad understanding of legal issues impacting the business.
