Career Opportunities

We want our employees to enjoy working at Devro - because we know that people who enjoy their work do it better. For our part we work hard at being a good employer.

We recruit locally, in each of the different regions where we operate. Like any large organisation we have openings from time to time in all the usual functions. But as a food manufacturer we're particularly interested in hearing from experienced, technically qualified people such as Chemical Engineers, Food Technologists, and Control  Engineers.

Due to the nature of our business the majority of our people are employed in Production. Listed below are a few typical career opportunities that arise in this area.

Production Managers

You should be degree-qualified in a science-related discipline and it would be advantageous if you possess an in-depth knowledge of process and manufacturing industries. The role requires technical competence, complemented by the ability to work a continental shift pattern within a team environment. Your leadership, problem-solving skills and decision-making ability will be developed and you will be measured against targets and the on-time delivery of results.

Process Operators

Operators should have a logical approach to fault finding, good manual dexterity and numerical skills, together with exceptional hygiene standards. The minimum qualification/experience requirement in the UK is 5 standard grades (including one science-based), together with several years relevant industrial/manufacturing experience. A recognised apprenticeship would be a distinct advantage. Keyboard skills would also be advantageous and a driving licence is essential. Candidates in other locations will need similar qualifications and experience. Operators can progress through our grading system, which promotes personal development and enhances your skills.

Process Technicians

Process Technicians collect data and carry out a wide range of quality checks throughout our production process. They work varied shift patterns within small teams. In the UK candidates will have an HNC (or above) qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science or a related discipline, and have experience in a production/process environment. Candidates in other locations will need similar qualifications and experience.

Maintenance Craftspeople

Our Craftspeople will have achieved a recognised apprenticeship in a mechanical or electrical discipline and be highly motivated. We also look for relevant experience in the following areas:
Maintenance and repair of high speed manufacturing equipment; mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis; instrumentation and control; working knowledge of PLC's; pneumatics and hydraulics; and planned maintenance procedures.
